The poultry play an important role in the production of fertilizer and off course eggs on the farm.

We have a small flock of pure bred Thuringian, a beautiful speckled rare breed that lays white eggs. As well as a flock of ex-commercial layers, and coloured egg layers. Our daughter also breeds silkies.

Throughout laying season eggs are available for purchase, both for eating and hatching. Pullets will be available on occasion as well as unsexed, off heat silkie chicks.

Our families of geese are crucial for aiding in grazing management as well as parasite control. We have different pairs of various breeds, including Embden and Toulouse.

Goslings are available for purchase every year during winter/autumn.

After trialing several breeds of pig on the farm, the Duroc came out top! Arrabella is our beautiful pedigree registered Duroc sow who we breed using top quality pedigree duroc AI and our own pedigree boar line.

We are aiming to keep one of her top quality daughters in order to expand our support of this fantastic rare breed.

The sheep are a key component of our grassland management and keeping the land healthy.

The Highland Homestead is home to several different breeds of sheep, including Herdwicks, cheviot crosses, polled dorset and pedigree registered Oxford Down. This variety allows us to produce wonderful wool for hand spinning as well as pasture raised lamb available throughout the year.
